Playground Porthole
Spring is here and I couldn't be happier. Seth and I have been taking Stella to the park at every possible moment. She is getting so big. She can say a few words ("hi," "mama," "dada," "Laila," "bye" which sounds more like eyyyyeee). I love watching her grow. The video is Stella on a spinning toy at the park loving it.

Stand
Seth started his new job and has been in training. I got to go to a spouse training. It has been very exciting. It is nice to work for a federal organization that treats the family a lot more like, well, family.
Seth's mom came out and watched Stella. It was the longest I have left her. She did fine but was a little clingy-er than normal.
So I bet you all want to know where we are going...so would we, but we don't find out until April. The good news is we are pretty open to exploring the world so there are a lot of places that we think we could be happy in. Come April sometime we will find out.
And for the most important news: Stella can stand without holding anything for long periods of time. It was very impressive today when she stood for about 30 seconds. We all cheered for her. The video below is Stella just being curious and sweet.

Our New Global Reach

Diplomat! If I could make the exclamation point bigger, or include one of those upside down exclamation points from Spanish, I would. This is the biggest exclamation I have ever made. I am joining the Department of State as a Foreign Service officer. I'm going to be a diplomat!
This is the fulfillment of a life-long dream, and the end of a long road of preparation. This all started almost two years ago. And now, after two massive tests, a security and medical review, and one year of waiting, I got the call.
What this means for us: After a period of training, starting tomorrow, Sunny, Stella, and I will be assigned to an embassy or consulate abroad. After a two-year assignment, we go back for more training and a new spot on the map. And so on. We get to live abroad, experience the world, and represent the United States. So, it 's pretty cool.
What this means for you: If you live in the D.C. area and enjoy our company, we may be away for a while. But we will always be back. And everyone can look forward to reading our international adventures on this blog. It's win-win!
"Hey, Seth! Do you guys know where you will be going yet?" No. We get to bid on the possible positions, which will be assigned mid-April. So hang tight until then.
Any questions?
